Rental Terms
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for that rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Manchester, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age limits may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving license relevant to the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Renters must also present valid identification, proof of current address, and payment details, including a security deposit. Additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met as well.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or in person at our Manchester office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required upon vehicle collection. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same level of fuel as it was collected; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. If you foresee a late return, please notify us immediately, as additional charges may be incurred. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- Standard third-party insurance is included with every vehicle rental. For comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts, please refer to the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to acquire additional insurance to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will remain your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or similar risky endeavors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unapproved drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unlawful. The vehicle should not be used in ways it is not intended for, including exceeding passenger or weight limits. Any travel outside designated geographical areas requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Limitations in Manchester
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Manchester is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
